Spearfish, SD.  Tom Svendsen, Sam Kenton, Zach Deverman before dinner..  After dinner, Steve, Stana, Megan, Ryan, Casey, Twila (Casey's mom), and Kellan came over for an after dinner drink.  It was great to have everyone over. 

Spearfish, SD.   The sisters: Merida, Barb and Wendy.  We had a great Thanksgiving.  I had Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year.  It started as a small group - Barb, Sam, Tom, Wendy, and my family (John, Zach, Ben, and me).  My turkey was declared "The best turkey ever".  It was pretty good.

Texas thanksgiving:

I didn't have much of a Thanksgiving this year.  Laurel fractured her hip and was finally released yesterday.  The nursing staff was probably happy to see her go too!  Like her dad, Laurel is not a good patient.  Patient is probably not a good word to describe Laurel when convalescing.  Fortunately I still had a Thanksgiving meal.  The hospital cafeteria served up your choice of turkey or ham, two sides, desert and ice tea.  I had mashed potatoes and green bean casserole for my sides.  A few days earlier my company had their 'Thanksgiving Fest' and served up bar-b-cue brisket with an assortment of veggies.  So I still feel I had my Thanksgiving meal. 

Last weekend I took Bert out for a walk and took several pictures.  This provides a glimpse of what we see this time of year.  Bert is an 80 pound dog, so that allows you to determine the size of some objects.  The red berries in the trees are pretty typical stuff for this time of year, and very seasonal for Christmas.

Steve, Megan, and Casey left at midnight to go shopping.  One of the items on Steve's list was a Transformers Bumblebee helmet from Toys R Us.  He had heard on MSN that this was the best deal of the day - 75% off - so he had to have it.  Not for a gift for anyone - he just had to have it.  So, they went to the store and Steve got the last one.  He said the line at the time went all the way to the back of the store to check out, so they hid the mask on the top shelf in the middle of the store.  We came back several hours later, grabbed the mask, and were able to pay for it without delay.  That Steve - he's pretty good at this stuff.

On Saturday, we all went up to Deadwood for a couple hours.  We went to the Saloon #10 for a couple drinks and then back to my house for chicken enchiladas.  It was really nice to spend the weekend with everyone.  We're going to have to figure out a year when all of us can get together for this

Norwalk, Connecticut:  Elizabeth and Kate, a few minutes before the line began.  It was a fun day.  We watched football, and played games until Midnight (just like we did growing up).  Elizabeth and I were going to stay for the evening and go back home that night, but with rain and sleet, we decided to stay.  I slept on one couch and Elizabeth slept on another.  The two couples with bad backs and health problems (Joe/Mary and Bill/Gayle) were assigned beds.   Well...at least we're healthy.  And we survived.
