This is how the church records in Waukon registered the marriage of Batt Ryan and Liza Hill in 1877. If this record is correct, then "Bartholomew" may not have been the real first name of our ancestor. This probably shouldn't be too surprising as his mother went by "Annie", yet her real name was Nancy. Batt also had a sister "Annie" who was born in 1854, however, her baptismal records (in Tipperary) show her birth name as "Honora".
Another interesting fact - Batt' parents married forty-one years earlier on February 14, 1836 in Newport, Tipperary.
