According to the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce: "It’s spooky. It’s creepy. But most of all, it’s hilarious. Deadwood’s annual Deadweird Costume Contest. This is the largest costume party in the Black Hills, and while its advertised that winners can take home $5000 in prizes; the Franklin Hotel awarded $8000 in prizes recently for best costume winners.
