Names and More Names Names can be confusing. For example, we are related to "McCloskeys" on both sides of our family. On the Smith side, we actually trace our family to two distinct "Smith or Smyth" families. If you want more information about a particular name (or just to clear up questions you might have), just drop us a line. |
The Front Page Over the past few months we have spent a considerable amount of time adding content to this website. In fact, the total size of our web is over 1 Gigabytes in size. But not to worry...we have a lot of capacity to grow!
Most of this new content came from Teresa Jacobsen, who cataloged so much of her mother's family family history. In addition families that have connected with us over the past six months helped us add more family photos. Now that you know how big our site is...do you know how many pages we have created in this site? 1910 pages approximately. Content...so much content For many of you, this site can be a little overwhelming. So we are trying to make it easier to follow. And a little easier to use by putting things together more logically. Over the summer, you may see fewer articles being added to the site, However, you may begin to notice changes in older sections - page revisions, making pages more interesting, etc. Everything's "Clickable" Most everything on the Front Page is a "clickable" link to another page. The series of notes on your left show what things you can see by clicking on a link or photograph. Most photos will remain constant on the front page, and any new photo added will also come with an embedded page of information. The Wallpapers There are two wallpapers used on the Front Page - the most obvious is the Batt Ryan family photo taken in the 1890s. This wallpaper has been used extensively on other pages in this site. A second wall paper is the map that you see on your left. This wallpaper is a map of western Fidane and eastern Gortnaskehy town lands in County Tipperary - the same town lands where our Ryan ancestors lived. Getting Started First of all...print out the family tree you are interested in. That will help you keep the names intact. Secondly, we have just added a new section on the bottom right hand side of the page. Some of the families have their own "web corner", and their information is located here. Want to learn more about cousins? Click on the "names" anywhere in the box. |
