Enjoyed Christmas Day at mom & dad's in Belvidere this year with my sister Pat, brothers Bruce & Brent, my niece Josie, Bruce's wife Lee, & Pat's very good friend Dick "Wine is my favorite four letter word" Latimer.

We had a very tasty holiday meal and way too many delicious desserts to choose from.  My sister Pat makes the best Krumkaker (Cardamom Cone-Shaped Wafers).  I believe she uses the recipe given to her by our grandma, Severine Jacobsen, who was a wonderful baker.  No matter what time of the year you visited, there was always plenty of sweet stuff to choose from.  Presents are opened after dinner and Santa Brent hands out the presents.  He's been playing Kris Kringle in our family for quite awhile now, starting when nieces & nephew were quite young.

We started a tradition a few years ago that after opening presents we have a wrapping paper war (rolling up the paper and throwing it at each other).  It works as a great calorie burner, stress reducer and makes cleaning up a lot more fun!

Attached is a picture of mom (Mary Rita) at 2 years of age surrounded by all of her new dolls and sitting on the rocking chair she got for Christmas.  Now there's one very happy little girl! What?  No snow?  Notice that it must have been a very mild day that year in South Dakota.

This picture & the next one were taken in Rockford, IL, Christmas 1950.

Bruce: 3+ years old, Steve: 2+ years, Pat: 1+ years old.  Mom mentioned that the reason for the lack of tinsel on the bottom of the tree was certain little ones were pulling it off...

Notice the skis... they were for Bruce & Steve

Here's the second photo from Christmas 1950; it's of Bruce, Steve and a couple of their "new?" friends.
