Marie Elizabeth (Roy) Turgeon
Marie Elizabeth (Roy) Turgeon was born in 1671 in Quebec, and married Zacharie Turgeon in 1691. Marie Elizabeth's father was Nicholas Le Roy (Roy) who was born 25 May 1639 at St. Remy, Dieppe, Normandy, France. He came to New France in May 1662, on the ship "le Jardin de Hollande". Nicholas Roy's parents were Louis LeRoy and Ann Lemaitre (also documented as Anne Lemaistre). Most of the Roys in the New World trace their lineage to Nicholas Roy, including the Roy families from Louisianna. Below is a sample of Nicholas' handwriting, which is the earliest sample we have from one of our ancestors.
