The McCluskey family connects to our own through "Irish" John Smith's mother, Catherine Greenan. Catherine's brother. Terry Greenan, lived by our own ancestors in Wisconsin. Terry's daughter, Alice, married Bernard "Barney" McCluskey. Growing up we heard stories about Frank traveling to Wisconsin to visit cousins. The McCluskeys were probably one group of cousins he visited during his stay. The McCluskeys appear to have many descendants still living in Wisconsin. We have written about this family before.

Alice McCluskey died about 1892. Bernard "Barney" died in 1898.. There was not enough in Barney's estate to pay his debts. Bear Creek was a tough place to make a go at farming. One son, James, planned on taking over the family farm but that fell through. Another son, Arthur, found resources to help him save the family farm. James and Arthur's siblings stayed in the area. Some lived in nearby Plain or Spring Green.
