Last night we had a Miss America pageant party.  Miss South Dakota was from Eureka - Alexandra Hoffman.  She is the daughter of Charlie and Holly (Wanner) Hoffman.  For the last month, TLC has been running a reality show "Countdown to the Crown" and Alexandra did very well.  So, we decided to have a party to watch the show. 

 

We all had to wear a tiara and sash and come up with a 30 second talent to perform.  Barb was Miss Sweet Cheeks and her talent was cheering and twirling to the EHS fight song.  Wendy was Miss Universe and her talent was demonstrating how to make a latch hook rug.  Megan (Steve's daughter) was Miss Anthrope and her talent was playing the nose flute (Steve bought it at Lark Toy Company in MN at Molly's wedding last year) and harmonica all while hitting a punch ball.  Sam's wife Vanessa was Miss "Bottom of my daughter's dress" (she didn't have a title but that is what her sash was made of) and Simone was Miss Eureka.  They had a joint talent of singing You Are My Sunshine and humming.  Tom decided to join in and was Miss Swedish Meatball.  His talent was juggling his balls.  I showed up as Miss Understood and my talent was whistling Dixie, playing the spoons, and jumping on one leg.  Barb's friend Sherry also came in full attire and her talent was standing on her head.

 

We also played a game where you had to pick up as many oyster crackers in one minute with chopsticks as you can (Chinese new year starts Monday). 

 

Miss South Dakota placed in the top fifteen, but did not advance any further.  The mood changed a lot after that (we were pretty excited for awhile).
