Mary Ann Hines Ryan When Don and Millie Ryan gave us a photo of Dennis Ryan's grave in the West Ridge cemetery, we saw something that surprised us - Mary Ann, his wife, was buried next to him. So we requested an obituary to see if we could learn more about this family... Dennis left Waukon in the early 1900s with most of his family, although a few of his sons remained behind to manage the farm. The rest of the family made their way to Cushing, Oklahoma and Springfield, Missouri. He returned to Waukon, and at some point was admitted to a private sanitorium in Dubuque, Iowa. After his death, his estate had to sell the farm to pay medical bills. A few of his sons remained in the Waukon area, while most of them moved to Houston County in Minnesota. At some point, we hope to make a connection with this family, as we believe some may still be in the Waukon and Houston county areas. |
