Tim's Notes about this Smyth Connection

These are news clippings for the 'Scottish' Smith clan.  Pat Smith lived with the "Irish" John Smith family in the early part of the twentieth century.  Later he moved to Wisconsin to be with the rest of his family.  Thomas Smith was the first member of this family who moved to America. Thomas and Patrick had a sister, Bridget, living in Wisconsin too.  She married Stephen Maloney.

I found her wedding news item.  She went by the name of Betty Smith.  'Biddy' was a nickname for Bridget, and I suspect Betty is another version.  Betty's bridesmaid was her cousin, Mary McCluskey, of Hillpoint, WI.  Our McCluskey cousins indicated their mail address as Hillpoint.  I suspect her father was Arthur McCluskey, who also attended "Irish" John's funeral. (See attached census record.)

How they are related is unknown.  Bridget Smith's paternal grandparents were John Smith/Susan Coyle.  Bridget's maternal grandparents were Patrick Greenan/Bridget McCarval.  It could be through the Greenan, Smith or both sides of the family.

Also, I sent you pictures of Bridget and Stephen Maloney's gravesite as well as a map of where they are buried.  Spring Green Library could not find an obituary for these Smith siblings mother, Louisa Smith.  Louisa died in 1925 at Bear Valley, Wisconsin.

Our family may be interested in reading about other "Smith" cousins.
