Amanda and Gabe in turtle shell

I asked Gabe to pose for me "on this spot".  Little did he know that in a few minutes he would going across the street and enter the building behind him...Toys R Us.  this is the best toys R us in the country...hands down...life size dinasaurs, ferris wheel inside, lego buildings, Barbie's life size playhouse, etc. etc. etc.

"Ground Zero" in downtown Manhattan.  Always seems to be construction activity, but no structure has started.

Just entered Central Park & ordered italian ice

At the polar bear exhibit in Central park.  Elizabeth, center. Barbara, left.  And Gabe in center (see the polar bear next to his head?)

The Pattersons (top) on Times Square and (Left) at Rockefeller Center.

One of Barbara's grandparents was a Kinton whose origin was Virginia, I think.  Probably a very distant cousin to Mike Kenton, South Dakota

The Pattersons drove up from North Carolina and spent most of the week with us.  During that time, we made our way to New York City, Statue of LIberty and Ellis Island.  On Thursday of last week, they left for Washington D.C. and spent a few days touring the Capital grounds.  On Friday, Elizabeth's brother Joe and his wife, Shirley, arrived at our house from Atlanta.  We also spent one day in the city, but went to a broadway show called MEMPHIS.  As I've been to a number of shows over the years, and have seen several of them multiple times (e.g., Phantom of the Opera and Les Mis), I would count this one as being among my all time favorites.  I could actually see myself going back to watch it again.  We stood in line at TKTS to get discount tickets, and unfortunately, there were no tickets being sold for WICKED...but that's OK, this was a better performance.

After the show, we wanted to find a place to eat.  So, we walked up to the upper east side to eat at Serendipity (apparently a movie was made 10 years ago with the same name).  It had a two hour wait, so we ended up eating at Patsy's.  Patys was good, and think Barb ate at one while she was here visiting Joe.
