When this census was taken Bill and Mary had been married for 2 years. Mary Cecile was the first child born of this union and the census indicates that they had only one child born to them.
The census was taken in Dudley, which I believe was the original name for Stickney. Next door to the Smiths was rooming house. Bill Smith owned his own home and it did not have a mortgage attached to it.

The Boney family was living in Kimball city by this time. Although living at home with his parents, James was working as a Real Estate agent. Five of the Boney children were still living although their whereabouts are unknown at this time.
This was the last census where these three names appeared together. Mary and John died prior to 1920 and it appears that James Boney moved away from Brule County for awhile. He moved back to Brule County sometime in the Roaring Twenties and became a deputy sheriff for Brule County. Unfortunately, he was killed in the line of duty and his name is memorialized as such with the South Dakota Peace Officers Association. This is the information I found regarding this incident. I included two accounts of this incident even though they appear contradictory:
“Deputy Sheriff James J. Boney - Brule County Sheriff's Department: Monday, September 6, 1926. Deputy Boney was shot and killed while searching for a robbery suspect. The suspect had robbed and kidnapped a person who had offered him a ride. Another passerby found the victim, who was tied up, and freed him before calling the sheriff's department.
Deputy Boney located the victim's car and as he searched for the suspect nearby he was shot several times and killed. A posse was formed and located the suspect near the Missouri River . The man was killed in a shootout with the posse. (ODMP)
Steve W. Hedge (alias Jack Martin) had committed a robbery of a couple who had given him a ride. Deputy Boney locate him hidden in the willows along the Missouri River . Hedge shot Boney five times killing him. He was sentenced to life in the State Penitentiary and died there about seven years later. (Sam Clark)”.
Cemetery Records for St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Kimball show the following Boney family members buried there:

Batt and Elizabeth are both living in Kimball city now. Elizabeth indicated she came from Massachusetts. Previous census records state she came from New Hampshire; however, this one is different. Their home was fully owned and had no mortgage.
